Kristen McClendon graduated Magna Cum Laude from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville with her Bachelor of Science degree in human nutrition/dietetics. She attended the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences to complete her dietetic internship. Since becoming a dietitian 8 years ago, Kristen has worked in both the adult and pediatric settings.
Kristen has always felt called to make an impact in her community. She is a helper and nurturer through and through and has always had the heart to make a difference. As a pediatric dietitian at Arkansas Children’s Hospital Kristen has been a witness to some of the most heart wrenching stories of many innocent children. So many of these children have/will experience time in foster care. These experiences have always weighed heavily on Kristen’s heart and eventually led her and her husband to become foster parents themselves. The opportunity to bring Little Rock Angels to her community has been very special to Kristen.
Kristen has been married to her very best friend for the past 13 years, and together they have two hilarious boys that make life so much fun. In 2013, they helped start Thrive Christian Church in Fayetteville, Arkansas with their good friends. This experience catapulted Kristen’s desire to volunteer and devote time to her community. Kristen loves volunteering with the youth group at her current church and has also spent time leading the women’s ministry.
Kristen is a native Arkansan and absolutely loves living in the south – southern hospitality, the slower pace of life, leaves changing color in the fall, and Razorback football!
